Connecting with Staff Across Tanzania

Mr. Makau began his tour at the Dar es Salaam branch, the largest and most bustling of the Fountain Gate Schools. From there, he traveled to the Morogoro branches, followed by visits to the Dodoma branches. Currently, he is on his way to the Manyara branch, with plans to conclude the tour at Mwanza. This extensive itinerary reflects his commitment to reaching every corner of the school network. Accompanied by the school Principal Mr. Joseph Mjingo.

Each visit is more than a routine check-in. Mr. Makau spends time listening to staff concerns, ideas, and aspirations. He understands that happy employees are more motivated and productive, which directly benefits the students and the school’s overall performance. By meeting face-to-face, he builds trust and shows that every staff member’s voice matters.

Collaborative Planning for School Development

One of the main goals of these meetings is to collaboratively establish clear plans and objectives for each school. Mr. Makau encourages staff to share their insights on what is working well and what needs improvement. This collaborative approach ensures that plans are realistic, relevant, and supported by those who will implement them.

For example, at the Morogoro branches, teachers highlighted the need for more professional development opportunities and better classroom resources. In response, Mr. Makau promised to explore partnerships with local organizations to provide training workshops and secure additional learning materials. This kind of dialogue creates practical solutions tailored to each school’s unique challenges.

Fostering a Culture of Communication and Unity

The meetings also serve as a platform to strengthen cooperation and unity among staff members. By bringing together teachers, administrators, and support staff, Mr. Makau promotes a culture where everyone feels connected and valued. This sense of community is essential for maintaining a positive work environment.

Staff members have expressed appreciation for the chance to speak openly and hear from their colleagues in other branches. Sharing experiences helps identify common challenges and successful strategies, which can be adapted across the network. This unity supports consistent quality education for all students, regardless of location.

The Importance of Happy Employees for Student Success

Happy employees create a ripple effect that benefits students directly. When staff feel heard and supported, they are more engaged and willing to go the extra mile. This enthusiasm translates into better teaching, more creative lesson plans, and a nurturing atmosphere for learners.

Mr. Makau’s dedication to ensuring staff happiness shows his understanding of this connection. By prioritizing employee well-being, he is investing in the future of the schools and the students they serve. This approach aligns with Fountain Gate Academy’s mission to provide quality education that prepares students for success in life.

What Comes Next for Fountain Gate Schools

As Mr. Makau completes his visits, the next step will be to implement the ideas and plans developed during these meetings. This phase will require ongoing communication and collaboration to monitor progress and make adjustments as needed.

Staff members are encouraged to continue sharing feedback and participating in school development initiatives. Their active involvement will help maintain momentum and ensure that improvements are sustainable. The director’s journey is just the beginning of a continuous process to build stronger schools and a brighter future for all.

Mr. Japhet Makau’s tour across Fountain Gate Schools highlights the power of listening, cooperation, and shared goals. By connecting with staff in Dar es Salaam, Morogoro, Dodoma, Manyara, and soon Mwanza, he is laying the foundation for lasting progress.
