Every year, some moments stand out because they bring together the past and the future in a powerful way. On February 7, 2026, the Fountain Gate Foundation, through the Maureen Memorial Empowerment Project, created such a moment at Babati Town Council Hospital (MRARA). This special day honored the late Mama Maureen Makau, whose dedication to the hospital left a lasting impact. It also celebrated new life by giving gifts to all the children born on that day, sharing love and hope with families and the community.

Honoring a Life of Service
Mama Maureen Makau worked at Mrara Hospital for about 14 years, dedicating herself to the care and well-being of countless patients. Her commitment did not go unnoticed. The Maureen Memorial Empowerment Project was established to continue her legacy by supporting the hospital and the community she loved.
On this day, the project’s chairman and President of Fountain Gate Academy Tanzania, Mr. Japhet Makau, led a convoy that included brothers, leaders, employees, parents, and friends of the academy. Their visit to Babati Town Council Hospital was more than a ceremony; it was a heartfelt tribute to Mama Maureen’s years of service.

Celebrating New Life on a Special Day
The date February 7 holds deep meaning because it is both the birth date of the late Mama Maureen and the day when new children were born at the hospital. The project team presented gifts to every child born on this day, symbolizing a connection between the past and the future.
This gesture was not only a celebration of new life but also a way to show special love and care to families welcoming their newborns. The presence of Mama Maureen’s children, including President Japhet Makau, and his family added a personal and emotional touch to the event.

Sharing Stories and Building Community
Beyond the gift-giving, the event included sharing testimonies about Mama Maureen’s service at the hospital. These stories highlighted her dedication and the positive impact she had on patients and colleagues. Hearing these accounts helped everyone present understand the depth of her commitment and the importance of continuing her work.
The event also strengthened ties between the Fountain Gate Foundation, the hospital, and the local community. It showed how honoring one person’s legacy can inspire collective action and support for health and education.

A Joyful Gathering at Fountain Gate Manyara pre and primary school
After the visit to the hospital, the entire convoy traveled to Fountain Gate Primary and Secondary School in Manyara. There, they shared a joint meal, celebrating togetherness and community spirit. This gathering was a reminder that the Maureen Memorial Empowerment Project is about more than one day—it is about ongoing support and connection.

Continuing the Legacy
The Maureen Memorial Empowerment Project demonstrates how one person’s dedication can inspire a community to come together and support each other. By honoring Mama Maureen’s life and celebrating new births, the project creates a bridge between generations.
This event encourages us to think about how we can contribute to our communities in meaningful ways. Whether through service, support, or celebration, every action counts. The project’s success shows that honoring the past can bring hope and strength to the future.
